Here a couple extra bells and whistles, and how to approach them:
Set up a comments avatar picture (optional).
If you’d like a mini avatar picture to accompany your comments on the site (of yourself or a representative image), I can’t set it up for you directly on my site. But there’s a way to create an avatar on the Gravatar site – https://en.gravatar.com/. It’s a site that allows you to set up an avatar pic that syncs up with your email, so when you comment or post on a blog (in which you login/sign up via email), the avatar image follows you. There’s no requirement to do this! You can pass, and the site will generate an image for your posts. But if you’d like to give it a whirl, go set up an account with Gravatar, upload your image, and it should appear on WordPress. Though just so you know, the image will follow you when you post on other blogs, too. And here’s a video tutorial if you’d like help with the process.
Subscribing to comments notifications.
You’ll be prompted to do this the first time you post a comment. As you interact in the Intensive, for any post you’re subscribed to, you’ll receive email notifications of comments. And sometimes the site asks you to re-subscribe, so don’t be surprised if that happens.
Tips for subscribing and unsubscribing. To subscribe to comments, go to the post you want to subscribe to on the site, by using a link, or navigating to the page through the website. You’ll need to type in the course password to get into the page.
Go down to the bottom of the page to the comments box. This is what you see when you make a comment–and you will need to post a comment to subscribe. You can simply post the word “subscribe” to do this, if you’d like. There you’ll be asked to log in using your email address if you haven’t already. Once you do that, go to the smaller box under the larger comments box, which asks you if you want to “Receive Email Notifications?” Use the dropdown box to indicate your preference.
If at any time you want to unsubscribe, go to the page of the post you want to unsubscribe from, go down to the Email Notifications box and click on “~manage my subscriptions,” which is underneath the box. You’ll see a list of posts you’ve subscribed to. Hover your cursor over one of the items on the list, or tap on one, and that should highlight the field. Underneath, you should see “edit subscr,” and alongside that “delete.”
